Prepress & Lithography

Technical build-up of artwork + Quality Check + Lithography works to our clients. We are proud to have a strong technical team to ensure 0% error even for the smallest details.

Once the artwork is ready, the next stage is initiating the Pre-press/Lithography process. It's a process done after completion of artwork and before the artwork goes into the printing press. Before we send the created artwork for printing press, it needs to be technically corrected through the following pre-press process like:

Trapping:

Trapping is accomplished by intentionally overlapping colors so that minor problems with alignment are not noticed. In commercial printing, the process of adding a slight overlap between adjacent areas of color to avoid gaps caused by registration errors is called trapping.

Color trapping is necessary to compensate for poor color registration. Poor color registration occurs when the printing plates used to print each color are not aligned perfectly. Poor registration causes unintentional white slivers to appear between adjoining colors.

Over Print (Super Print):

In most cases, when two objects of different colors overlap they knockout, they won't print on top of each other. To intentionally print one layer of ink on top of another is to overprint.

Overprinting is sometimes used to avoid the need for trapping and avoid gaps between touching colors. Spot colors intended to designate the application of spot varnish are also set up to overprint.

Color Correction:

GNM offer color Correction which is a crucial part of photo editing in Pre-press jobs. This is essential for the visual impact for a whole page irrelevant of its outlined structure.

Particularly in print media color correction plays an essential part in process of printing. GNM understand that a page layout and its appeal vastly depends upon the coloring effects.

Image Resolution:

Rastor images, such as scanned photographs, are made up of small squares called pixels. Image resolution refers to the spacing of pixels in an image and is measured in pixels per inch, ppi, (sometimes called dots per inch, dpi).

The higher the resolution, the more pixels in the image. Higher resolution allows for more detail and subtle color transitions in an image. A printed image that has a low resolution may look pixelated or made up of small squares, with jagged edges and without smoothness.

Bleed:

Bleed is a printing term that refers to printing that goes beyond the edge of the sheet after trimming. The bleed is the part on the side of your document that gives the printer that small amount of space to move around paper and design inconsistencies Bleed information refers to elements outside the finished piece. Often a printer requires bleed information on pieces that have bleed to allow for "printer bounce" when cutting a job down to size. Failing to provide bleed information and crop marks can result in finished pieces showing a thin area of white on the edge.

Pre-Flight:

GMN have own workflows system that combines automated and manual file checking to control the line of work attains the press on time, and correctly. After completion of Artwork now it requires the next step of printing, collect all data for preparation of preflight for printing.

Proofing:

At IPDC, we provide a final proof called a blueline. This proof is created from the electronic files provided by the designer and ensures that the files have transferred correctly.

It's a process which allows the client to get an idea as how the final product packaging on other printed version will look like before doing the mass print production. This is necessary when the designer/client is unsure of the results or when variations or combinations of design elements such as unique photographic or digital applications, ink colors or special inks or coatings, colored stocks or other variables are present that may never have been attempted previously.

Finally, the artwork is ready for printing and then Post-press production processes.
